the update

So let's see....monday my computer broke. it was pretty terrible. i basically freaked out and didnt know what to do. my final was given out that day, everything was on it, it was just not a good situation. the IT people couldnt fix it but then some person said he would try. i gave him my computer. it was a really weird situation just giving the computer away. i was at a total loss about what to do with my life without my computer in the room--no email no movies no tv shows. sucked. so then i played "hack-abroom" this made up game with a broom and hack-e-sac with quinn and devin outside of the dorms. i actually was able to hit it too. then i went to the campus bar with them and some of the north dakota girls. played pool and darts. headed back and hung out in the dorms. tuesday was computer less. but at work it was cool because i got introduced at the high court. like i was the solicitor--it was way intense and made me really nervous to sit there and actually be doing something in the law. really cool. played darts that night. wednesday was the soccer game. we went to kielys and watched the game..the US won and it was cool to see everyone out. then we freaking walked home--it was a long walk, but actually went by really fast. thursday i decided to cut school--i went to the guiness factory and jameson distillary. we also got a free ride on the hop-on hopoff haha. bought some souiveners. cant really remember what i did that night--ohh i worked on my final because i finally got a computer on wednesday. then friday had to do my final..sucked. then that night we went out! yay for the last friday night. lots of hanging out and dancing at the night club.
thats basically all...nothing too exciting.
oh lide

3 day Paddywagon South Ireland Tour

Friday morning we met up at 6:30 to go on an adventure in southern ireland! Arrived at the place very early and just waited around--then we loaded on a bus: 3 from my apartment and 11 others from the program plus about 15 other random people. First stop was Phoenix Park in Dublin--it is europe's largest urban park. This cross was where the pope spoke and 1/2 the population listened. It was pretty windy up there.

Our first stop outside of Dublin was Furbane--our driver Joe's hometown. We basically stopped there for coffee and to see a wooden sculpture in the church made out of the special wood in Ireland.

Scary but cool sculpture!

The cows and calves!

The oldest monastic settlment.

This was our final stop on the first day: Galway. It was an amazing town with lots of history, shops, and nightlife!

Some of my roommates might have found Irish lovers that night! It was a fun bar with live rock music.

Most beautiful stop, Cliffs of Mohr!

I'm basically crazy...

thatched roof cottage

cathedral in Killernay

lake in a national park during our horse drawn carriage.

mmm. beef and guiness stew!

our crazy 14 person hostel.

Blarney Castle

I kissed the stone!

Yay for a fun tour.

It was a great trip...more details later probably.

I'm on a boat

Combo entry time. Yesterday was Wednesday. I went to work EARLY because we were going to the High Court for a case. However, getting there early was incredibly stupid because we just sat around and did nothing for a really long time. It was really boring and I was tired from the disaster the night before. Then eventually the solicitor came and picked me and Roxy up and our client. She drove us to the High Court. While waiting I got very familiar with the case and the procedures because there was so much time. It was good to read some actual legal writing and hopefully it will be good for my resume and interview ability.

The High Court was boring. The barristers bowed at the judge twice whenever entering or leaving the room. Barristers also wear robes and wigs like Harry Potter ish! The case wasn't too interesting, but it was a learning experience.

Oh and the whole time it was raining and miserable and my pants were too long and got way wet and it was gross! After the trial we walked to the Luas and headed back to school. Class was alright--I think that my professor ran out of things to say because she talked so fast in the first few days.

Next we had like a dinner cook out! I made hamburgers and Melissa made pasta. It was cool hanging out, but the kitchen was way to hot. After it was time for desert and we got milkshakes at Eddie Rockets. Tasty.

When we got back I didn't really have anything to do so I went to go hang out with our floormates while they played Monopoly. Drunk kids are funny. Such an intense violent game!

Some Grey's and then sleep.

Today I was woken up by a phone call. It was my boss telling us that we had to be somewhere a half hour earlier and at a place that takes longer to get to. It was pretty intense. I rushed down to Roxy's room and had to wake her up. We rushed and made a bus. Walked really fast and actually made it to the RAT on time! Too bad when we get there the client doesn't show so the case was adjourned. Boo. Luckily we didn't just go there for nothing--there was a hearing at 10. That case actually happened, but it wasn't a good case.

Headed home and had lunch. Good nap! I've been watching tv shows during my spare time and I am enjoying some of the downtime. Class got out way early today! She definitely ran out of things to say! Whatever. I am still figuring out if I am dropping my next class. Too much reading.

Then we went to a street performer festival at a park downtown. It was pretty cool and free. Only got rained on once.

Magician!

Cabbage head catcherman

Rainbow we saw walking up to the dorms.

The street performers were mostly just comedians which was pretty great. Really funny! Headed back and cooked dinner. So now just relaxing because early morning to go on the tour tomorrow!

btw: allergies here are terrible! so over it already

Bloomsday

Yesterday was june 16th. It was the day Ulysses take place in Dublin Ireland. People all over the place were dressed in 19th c. clothing walking around hanging out and going on the historic route. To celebrate a bunch of people in our program decided to do a literary pub crawl. It was pretty amazing actually--even though I don't know the literature it was still really interesting. I loved that I had already been to so many of the historic locations spoken about. Makes me feel like I am experiencing a lot.

The leaders/actors who took us on the crawl

start of the crawl...

next location--20 minutes for a pint--i actually survived it!

next stop! also survived but barely...

And then we decided to take the bus home--so basically I drank a Carlsberg, a Stella, another Carlsberg, finished someones Guiness, and then another Carlsberg. I was pretty much done. The bus ride was WILD. Falling people all over the place--i really hope there weren't others on the bus.

The bus at night drops you off further away than normal and I managed to fall and scrap my elbow and foot! Oh geez. So much fun!

no photos!

I went a whole day without taking any photos yesterday. Basically uneventful I guess. Let's see. I woke up and went to work. We were going to try to take a bus to the RAT for work, but we ran late and had to walk through Trinity College again. I'm glad I brought my umbrella because it was raining as I walked there. We watched a hearing but the applicant had this like attitude and wasn't very cooporative and the interpreter wasn't great. And then the judge was kind of a dick, but whatever I guess. That is basically how the process works. It was over early, so we got to go back early so we could have some time before class. It was a nice rest.

Went to class after avoiding the newly built fence that the construction people built that morning. Like literally there was a path to class, and they built a fence blocking it off. Completely so we need to now walk all the way around to get there. So ridiculous. Class was fine--actually stayed awake.

Came back and our apartment went to the closer Tesco to go grocery shopping. Got a few things and then some stuff I really didn't need but just looked so good. Saw a vespa getting towed by a huge flat bed tow truck--the vespa owner looked so sad. Definitely finalized our obersvation that there are many pregnant peopled in Dublin for some reason. Saw a really cool stroller---2 babies but same size as a regular stroller.

Cooked dinner and hung out with my apartment as we talked about what to do on the long weekend. Its pretty much decided that we are going to South Ireland for a 3 day tour. Should be pretty fun. Convinced Nichole to go! She wasn't too happy about staying at a hostel--but it will definitely be a European travelling experience!

Internship class was really boring, but survived with my computer luckily. Then headed to the campus pub to watch the end of the US v. Italy game. We were up, but as soon as we started watching Italy scored--ended up being 3-1 loss. Oh well--the commentary here is so much better! And it is cool to hear a non-pro-US opinion afterward.

Skyped with Jerrod and then slept early. Tonight I am going on an Irish Literary Pub Tour for Blooms Day! Hopefully it is a fun time.

3 more days of Competition law!

getting bad at this blogging at night thing

On Sunday I went on a DART adventure. We woke up and went South to the furthest DART station near our school. We had coffee at a little shop before jumping on the train. It was a cute little town. While sitting at the coffee shop I saw a woman completely leave her baby outside of the coffee shop and go inside for a while. So strange.

This is Greystones.

DART train: Dublin Area Rapid Transit. I wish that BART had unlimited passes instead of a per trip cost.

View from our train ride up the coast. Very pretty.

The marina of Howth, north of Dublin. There were seals in the marina that people were feeding. Reminded me of the Piers in SF a lot.

The view from one side of the marina to the other side where there was a light house, which we visited later while it was pouring rain of course.

My crab salad on Irish brown bread. Brown bread is my new favorite here. We even bought some from the tiny little farmers market thing. The farmers market had fruits, breads, pastries, crepes, jewelry, and other little goods. It was cute.

This was the cool, and probably tasty pig that was being sold at the market.

After Howth, we just jumped back on the DART and went to city centre. There was a very attractive French man who we spoke with on the train--well Melissa did because the rest of us didn't speak French. Took the bus back and came home. The internet was really crappy all weekend because they don't have an IT person working on the weekend.
It was a chill night. Hung out in Jenn's room for a little while and had random communications with apartment 9 while they were in their kitchen haha.
I think I have decided that this weekend (we have a three day weekend) I am going to do a Southern Ireland Tour. It is a little pricey but should be totally worth it. I'm actually really excited about it because it is like the true Ireland other than just Dublin.
Oh and we finally got a can opener so I was able to eat some soup finally!
