A little late

Well I was too tired to blog about what happened yesterday, but hopefully I can remember. I woke up early-ish because I started my first day of my internship. Threw on the suit and met up with Roxy from Wisconsin to go to our internship at Refugee Legal Services. We jumped on a bus and headed to town. Then jumped on the Luas to go to Smithfield. Got sorta lost trying to find the building. The area is kinda desolate and there isn't much around, but we found it early and just sat in the waiting room until our supervisor showed up. Then we got the tour of the place. it is basically 4 floors and I feel like I will be climbing those stairs quite a lot. I am sorta happy that I will be working a lot because that is what I came for. I really want the experience from the job in order to make myself shine on a resume. Met all sorts of people: solicitors (talks with actual clients), barristers (talks to judges), and paralegals. Then we got our desks: yep computer and phone and everything haha. We then just filled out the HR paperwork and confidentiality agreements. Got our next day assignments to go to the RAT (Refugee Appeals Tribunal) in order to observe a hearing and headed back.

On the way back we were supposed to just hop on the bus and get back, but then we ran into a march. The Ryan Report is about the abuse that occured in Ireland Orphanages a few decades ago and how there was just a settlement with the institutions that ran them--the march was to protest that. Anyway, it blocked traffic for a half hour. And then it took like 20 minutes for the buses to get back to schedule. And then there was traffic when we finally got on one. Two of my classmates missed their class, luckily mine was later--so I didn't but still--kinda sucked.

It was my roommate Natalie's birthday so we went out for dessert after our internship class that evening. We just stayed local in DonnyBrooke and I got delicious Bailey's cheese cake. Talked for a few hours and then headed back.

This picture is an attempt to prove I am actually here. Thus far most of my pictures don't have my in them--so there it is: me with the Dublin bus system times haha. Not too eventful day, but definitely time filled.

I am going to blog about today later tonight when the night is actually over. All the rest of the apartment has a makeup IP class tonight so I'll be hanging out!
